Bio

Dalia Vosylius began her journey in life on April 22nd in Los Angeles. Born to Lithuanian immigrant parents, she was quickly immersed in the Lithuanian culture including the folk song and dance ensemble called "Spindulys". She knew early on that performing was her path. Like many young girls, she dreamt of becoming a ballerina. Her lovely mother began taking her to dance classes at the local community center and at the tender age of six she found herself on the stage performing in such shows as "Sleeping Beauty" and the "Nutcracker." Then came touring with the Lithuanian group "Spindulys" to such places as Chicago, Toronto, Australia and even Lithuania itself.

In high school Dalia began taking acting classes at Los Angeles City College, but it wasn’t until college at Cal State Los Angeles that the acting bug really took over. There she had a chance to act in a variety of plays and musicals from "Chicago" to  "Woyzeck" as well as try her hat on as a choreographer in "The Dream of Kitamura". Twice she was nominated for the prestigious Irene Ryan acting award and invited to particitpate in The American College Theatre Festival and twice she was awarded an acting scholarship. Her affiliation with Cal State L.A. also allowed her to work with such prestigious artists and companies as The Joffrey Ballet, Blue Palm, Lula Washington, Rudy Perez and develop a great love for avant garde theatre especially as expressed through dance. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts and Dance.

Like most graduates experience after college, reality came knocking. Earning a living has very little to do with the theories one learns in textbooks. Dalia discovered along the way that she had a passion and knack for teaching. That translated itself to choreographing and directing children’s shows with the Lithuanian Saturday school. The rest of her days were taken up with production work. Yes, she, like many others, was a production assistant for Motion Picture Corporation of America which then led her to become an assitant production coordinator and assistant accountant for a few feature films. This was by far the best education she had in terms of the film business as well as building some very important relationships with some incredible people.

But like most people in production know, you’re either an actor or you work production. Crossing back and forth is very difficult. So she severed herself from the production end of things to focus full time as an actor. This is where the long 8 year journey of studying with various wonderful teachers began; from Joe Palese, to Ivanna Chubbuck, to Margie Haber and finally with Marilyn Fox and Gar Campbell at Pacific Resident Theatre. During this time, Dalia earned her SAG card (Yeah!!!) and began landing some film and television work. Playing ice hockey have her the chance to throw some checks on the set of "Malcolm in the Middle" and "CSI". During this time, she and 4 other talented artists went on to start "The Curtain Box Theatre Company" and produce "Pizza Man" and "Two Rooms."

Along the way, Dalia to became a teacher, director and producer with the Santa Monica School District, Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation, St. Paul’s Elementary School and Los Angeles School District. And if that isn't enough, it was during this fruitful time that Dalia and her friend Stacey Levno began Dalia Designs T-shirts which is still going strong. So, visit the website at daliadesigns.com and buy a shirt to support Dalia's artistic endeavors.

Currently, Dalia is a member of the acclaimed COOP Theatre Company in West Los Angeles. Here, she has appeared in about 10 shows in the last year and a half in the notable episodic theatre piece "The One Booth Joint". Delightfully, she put on her choreographer's hat again for some of these episode. Dalia continues to flex her acting muscles with Gar Campbell and Marilyn Fox and dreams one day of becoming a member of Pacific Resident Theatre. She's still teaching in Santa Monica, still playing hockey and as most actors, ...still looking for meaningful and challenging acting work... (that will hopefully pay at least scale).
